YFAC’s Anti Cracker Drive

Diwali is a celebration of light, not noise nor pollution. In 2010 YFAC’s Anti Cracker Drive urged students at the JSSATE, Noida to pledge a cracker-free and pollution-free Diwali.

In efforts to bring awareness to the evils of the menacing crackers, a pledge chart was put up at the main notice board in the academy’s premises. Students were made aware of not only the environmental issues related to the subject but also of the ethical reasons for not using crackers.

The pledge-chart was a great hit and seemed to draw a lot of positive attention. It was a successful venture considering that hundreds of students signed their names along with their own versions of the pledge. Students vowed to stand by their pledges and agreed to play their part, however small, to ensure a better, safer and cleaner tomorrow.
