"Vastra-Samman" - Lets provide dignified living for all !

“People are calling it one of its kind campaign in the world and it might become the largest material collection drive ever…..”

"VASTRA-SAMMAN” is a collection drive initiative, which was taken by GOONJ, a  well-known non-profit organisation with the voluntary participation of the members of Youth For A Cause.
GOONJ is the first organization worldwide to take up ‘Clothing’ as a development subject. In the last ten years, GOONJ has been channelizing the urban India’s underutilized material like clothing, school material, and sanitary napkins etc as development resources in far-flung villages of India.
It initiates VASTRA-SAMMAN (dignifying clothing) a pan India campaign, to raise awareness & collect about one crore (10 million) units of material in the 'Joy of Giving Week' being celebrated across India from 27th Sept. to 3rd Oct. every year.
YFAC joined the campaign and we collected an enormous amount of materials from the public. The event was conducted in the Shakti Kunj apartment near Sector-62, Noida. Everyone appreciated the idea and participated enthusiastically. We were able to collect about 400 kilogram of material in two days of the drive.
Items that were collected included old clothes in wearable condition, woollens, footwear, bed
sheets, blankets, utensils, stationery-school items (old and new school bags/copies/ pencils-pens/water bottles/ lunch boxes/ old uniforms), dry ration, newspapers, one side used paper, magazines etc.
We believe that just by re-using our old clothes the problem of clothing for the poor can be solved to a very large extent. Cloth is given as a motivation, with dignity, to people working on their own community issues. By providing a small piece of clean cloth to a village woman, to be used as a sanitary napkin, we can prevent a multitude of hygiene problems.
The Joy of Giving week is soon coming this year. Let’s all join hands with GOONJ and become a proud part of this noble cause!
Let’s make a difference to someone’s life…..
